TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – State agencies in Kansas were being affected Friday by the global technology outage, officials said.
The Kansas Office of Information Technology Services confirmed that a software update from vendor partner CrowdStrike has impacted services for executive branch agencies.
Officials said this was not a cybersecurity attack and there is no threat to life-safety services.
CrowdStrike, a vendor partner, deployed an update late Thursday evening and into the early morning hours of Friday, which affected servers and computers, according to a news release early Friday afternoon from the Kansas Office of Information Technology Services.
CrowdStrike has provided fixes, and the Kansas Office of Information Technology Services is working closely with that organization and with executive branch agencies to remediate any issues, the news release said.
“This is a global problem, impacting many beyond Kansas,” the news release stated.
Services continue to be restored online. Officials with the Kansas Office of Information Technology Services said they couldn’t provide an estimated time for each service’s restoration.
