The Kentucky Wildcats have been on a heater as of late on the recruiting trail, stacking commitments in the month of July to push them to a top-25 recruiting class.

Unfortunately, you can’t win them all.

On Thursday, 3-star offensive lineman Issac “Spike” Sowells committed to NC State. He chose the Wolfpack over the Cats and South Carolina.

Sowells, a 6-foot-2, 295-pound o-lineman from Louisville, seemingly went back and forth during this recruitment between the Cats and the Wolfpack, with Kentucky unfortunately being on the wrong side of the decision. Especially with his pedigree as an interior o-lineman, landing his commitment would help bolster the line as they look to retool the “Big Blue Wall”.

However, Mark Stoops and his staff have still placed themselves in a good spot to still finish with a top-25 class. They currently sit at 17 commitments, with four of those commits playing the offensive line.

Vince Marrow doesn’t lose a lot of recruiting battles, and it’s safe to assume this one might not be fully over. If the Cats can get him on campus this season, they could really get back in this one.
