Devin Williams named to Preseason All-CIAA Team

SALEM, VA — The Bowie State Bulldogs were picked to finish fifth in the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Preseason Poll, as voted by the CIAA Football Coaches Association and the Sports Information Directors Association during the 2024 CIAA Football Media Day festivities Thursday. 

The 2024 team features 23 returning players from the 2023 All-CIAA team, including 18 first-teamers that featured BSU’s own Devin Williams. Williams, a native of Waldorf, Md., elevated his game at defensive back position during the 2023 season, earning 11 breakups and three interceptions for the First Team All-Conference nod a season ago.

League coaches selected Virginia State and Virginia Union to finish first and second, respectively, in the conference’s new, no-divisional format. The 2024 CIAA Football Championship game is slated for Nov. 16 in Salem, Va. (Salem Stadium). 

The Panthers of VUU are the reigning CIAA champions after capturing their first title in 22 years with a 21-10 win over the Broncos of FSU.
