Muncy state prison parole agent alleged to have had sexual relationship with inmate on prison grounds | News, Sports, Jobs

MUNCY – While employed as a Department of Corrections parole agent at the state Correctional Institution here, Kenneth E. Jones had a sexual relationship with an inmate on the prison grounds between June and late October of last year, it was alleged in court documents made public this week.

Jones, 29, of Lewisburg, faces one count each of felony institutional sexual assault, obstructing the administration of law, official oppression and two counts of criminal coercion.

Jones had an office in the Counseling Services Building located on the grounds of the all- women’s prison on Route 405 in Clinton Township, and the inmate was assigned to a work detail in which she cleaned Jones’ office as well as others in the counseling center, according to affidavit filed by Jeremiah Campbell, a criminal investigator with the state Department of Corrections, who filed the charges.

The relationship between Jones and the inmate began simply with them flirting with one another when they saw each other, the inmate told Campbell.

Next, they started to exchange notes detailing the feelings they had for one another, the inmate told Campbell. Soon their relationship became physical, first with kisses and then Jones exposing himself to the inmate, it was alleged in the affidavit.

In an interview with Campbell, the inmate alleged that she and Jones engaged in various sexual acts dozens of times.

When he was questioned by Campbell, Jones admitted he and the inmate had a sexual relationship, but he claimed it started last August not in June as the inmate had stated.

“While she was cleaning the counseling center, the inmate told Jones about a book she wrote and asked him if he would like to read it,” the court document stated.

“I said yes despite knowing I was probably crossing a small boundary,” Jones told the investigator.

“After a while, the relationship, unfortunately, became physical,” Jones told Campbell.

Jones estimated he and the inmate engaged in about 20 sexaul acts, Campbell said he was told.

Jones was arraigned before District Judge Kirsten Gardner and was was released on $25,000 bail. Jones has been suspended from his position and the matter is currently under administrative review, a spokeswoman at the correctional facility said Thursday afternoon.
