General Dynamics Information Technology has appointed Bo Reese as senior director for state and local government to provide strategic direction and program delivery to agency customers.

Reese served for over 30 years in state and city government roles, most recently as city manager for Miami, Oklahoma, where he oversaw the delivery of critical electric and water services to more than 13,000 residents. Before that, he led the Oklahoma Department of Transportation’s modernization efforts as its chief technology officer.

Reese also served as the state’s chief information officer, advocated the state’s use of cloud, launched a technology innovation initiative called Innovate Oklahoma and enhanced the state’s cybersecurity posture.

“Reese has an outstanding track record of successfully leading transformational IT programs for state and local agencies,” said Scott Mack, GDIT vice president of state and local government. “His mission knowledge and technical expertise will enable us to continue delivering innovative technologies to accelerate our customers’ IT modernization goals.”

Reese also served as president of the National Association of State Chief Information Officers and received a commendation from Oklahoma Governor Mary Fallin for his leadership of the FirstNet interoperable communication network and nationwide Public Safety Broadband Network.
