(FOX40.COM) — The California State Fair and Food Festival is making its return to Sacramento. 

The annual summer event is taking place from July 12 to July 28 and is expected to draw thousands of people to Cal Expo.

For many Californians, the state fair is a summer staple, which features live performances, competitions, exhibits, carnival rides and a selection of food vendors. 

Fair goers can expect warm temperatures during the opening weekend of the fair, as much of Northern California will be under an Excessive Heat Warning through the evening Saturday, July 13. Friday is expected to reach 109 degrees followed by a 102 temperature day on Saturday and 96 on Sunday, according to the FOX40 Weather Center. 

Here’s everything to know about the 2024 edition of the State Fair. 

Location:

•Cal Expo, 1600 Exposition Boulevard, Sacramento, CA 95815
Main gate is located on Exposition Boulevard and Heritage Way

Dates:

July 12 to July 28

Tickets

Daily admission is $16 for adults, $12 for seniors ages 62 and up, and $10 for kids ages 5 to 12. Children 4 and under can get inside the fair for free. 

Advance tickets come at a $2 discount if they’re bought in advance, according to the fair’s website.

Carnival tickets are $1 each with unlimited wristbands for ride are $39 to $44, but those must be purchased in the carnival. 

Parking

Single day parking is $17 while a three-day parking pass is $33. 

Bag policy

Cal Expo and the State Fair will enforce a clear bag policy with exceptions of clutches with wrist straps no bigger than 5 inches by 8 inches and clutches with a shoulder strap no larger 5 inches by 8 inches. 

Guests can also carry in blankets, jackets, and parental bags and make them readily available for screening at entry.

•Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 1 p.m. to 11 p.m.
•Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Carnival and skyride hours

•Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday: 2 p.m. to 11 p.m.
•Tuesday, Saturday, Sunday: 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Exhibit building hours

•Monday to Thursday: Opens at 11 a.m.
•Friday to Sunday: Opens at 10 a.m.

Monorail hours

•Monday to Thursday: Opens at 11 a.m.
•Friday to Sunday: Opens at 10 a.m.

Concerts

Fair goers can enjoy live music at the Toyota Concert Series on the Golden 1 Stage. All concerts are free to attend with a fair ticket, but fair goers can reserve seats for concerts at $25, according to the fair’s website.
