WELD, Maine (WMTW) – Recent storms have impacted some local ATV trails.
Mt. Blue State Park closed its trails for the summer, and it has announced that these trails will remain closed indefinitely.
“Unfortunately, the trails have taken heavy damage, and without sufficient funds to repair them, they have been deemed unsafe for riding,” a posted statement reads on the park’s website.
Local stores worry this may affect their business.
“Lot of motorbikes come here for the food and for the fuel,” said Sunny Bammi, general manager of Ellis’ Variety in Dixfield. “Of course, it’s going to affect my business.”
Maine’s Department of Agriculture, Conservation & Forestry and Mt. Blue State Park Rangers did not return our request for comment.
