TOWN OF PIERCEFIELD, New York (WWNY) – A motorcyclist died Friday when he lost control of his bike and struck a Mercedes-Benz head-on, state police said Monday.
It happened on Route 3 in the Town of Piercefield in St. Lawrence County.
Killed was Christopher Bates, 61, of North Bangor.
Police said Bates lost control of his motorcycle and crossed into the path of the Mercedes. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Mercedes, Sebastian Buhts, 35, of St. Louis, MO, was taken to Adirondack Medical Center in Saranac Lake with injuries that are not life-threatening, police said.
A third vehicle, driven by Lorette Lynch, 57, of Potsdam, was following the Buhts vehicle too closely, police said, and struck the rear of the Buhts vehicle.
