SimplyHired Vs. Indeed Comparison – Forbes Advisor

Free Plan

While posting jobs on SimplyHired is free, we don’t list it as having a free plan because you are always required to pay to contact a candidate. Indeed has a truly free forever plan, where you can post jobs and reach out to applicants without paying a dime.

Free Trial

Indeed doesn’t need a free trial because its core offering is free by default. SimplyHired doesn’t offer a free trial on reveals.

Pricing

The only thing you pay for with Indeed is when you sponsor your job listing. You set your budget and pay when a candidate interacts with your ad. SimplyHired charges a minimum of $9.99 per reveal, but this amount can be significantly more, depending on the job location, the experience of the applicant and other market data.

Résumés in Database

As one of the largest job boards in the world, Indeed has more than 200 million résumés on file across the world. This is important, especially if you want to hire international candidates. You can purchase a monthly or annual subscription to access the database, otherwise, gain access by sponsoring your listing.

SimplyHired does not advertise a résumé database, but it may have one.

Candidate Evaluation Tools

Candidate evaluation tools help you work through the applications as they come through. Some assign a score so you know which candidates to look at first, whereas others are less sophisticated.

Indeed’s Instant Match tool, available when sponsoring a listing, cross-references your job description with its résumé database and suggests candidates to invite to apply for the position. SimplyHired does not offer a candidate evaluation tool to help narrow down the candidate pool.

Number of Job Boards It Posts To

Indeed aggregates job listings from outside sources and doesn’t advertise cross-posting. However, one of its partners, Glassdoor, suggests it might. When you go to post a job on Glassdoor, which has a job board, it refers you to Indeed.

SimplyHired advertises cross-posting to over seven other job boards, so your listing gets maximum exposure to many of its partners. Interestingly, Indeed is listed as one of the companies in this network.

Sponsored Listings

Sponsored listings help set your job apart from others. Indeed offers this on a PPC basis so you can set a budget, and only pay when the ad performs. SimplyHired does not offer sponsored listings.

Skills Tests

Skills testing is another huge boon for Indeed because instead of taking a candidate’s word for the skills they possess, you can verify their aptitude for a skill. This is important because a candidate might have exposure to a specific tool but not a high proficiency in using it, especially if it’s necessary for the job. SimplyHired does not offer skills tests.
