The Milwaukee Brewers have already seen a lot of the Chicago Cubs this season.
And thanks to the current balanced schedule, the two rivals won’t meet again until 2025 after the completion of this week’s three-game set.
It’s the earliest the NL Central division foes have wrapped up regular-season play since the Brewers joined the National League in 1998.
Milwaukee needs just one victory at Wrigley Field this week to win the season series. Considering Craig Counsell’s shocking move to manage 90 miles south in the offseason, that would be Christmas in July for most Brewers fans.
With his team 48-53, Counsell hasn’t had much to smile about in the Cubs dugout this season. Despite a victory Sunday over the Arizona Diamondbacks, he was upset with a question asked by ESPN reporter Jesse Rogers, calling Rogers’ thoughts on a Christopher Morel at-bat “a bad take.”
Morel is hitting .202 this season.
