Corbin Burnes, who will be in Texas for 12 hours, said he has no regrets about the whirlwind trip.

“I wish I hadn’t have walked Shohei, but it was fun,” Burnes, who will fly back to Arizona tonight where his wife and newborn twins are, said. “There’s really no words to express the atmosphere of playing around the best players in the game.”

Burnes, in his first season since being traded to the Orioles, said it hasn’t hit him yet how wild the first half of 2024 has been. In 118 2/3 innings, the 2021 NL Cy Young Award winner has allowed just 32 earned runs on 99 hits with 25 walks and 110 strikeouts.

His wife encouraged him to go to Texas despite her giving birth just a few weeks ago, while Burnes hemmed and hammed over whether it was the right way to close the first half.

“To cap it off with this is pretty cool,” Burnes said of his first fourth All-Star selection and first career start. “I think at some point ill be able to sit down and think about this, reflect, but it’s been awesome getting to start and be around these guys.”

“I got to listen to my wife when she says something like that.”
