This year, there is a new 40-pitch pitch limit in each of the first two rounds. All eight contestants will hit as many homers as possible in their allotted time of three minutes (excluding any bonus time) or by 40 pitches, whichever comes first. When the round is over, the top four will advance to the semifinal, with the No. 1 seed vs. the No. 4 seed and No. 2 vs. No. 3. A tie for seeding goes to the player who hit the longest home run. Winners advance to the final round.

In the finals, hitters will have two minutes (excluding possible bonus time) or a 27-pitch max, whichever comes first. Find a further breakdown and explanation of format changes.

The 2024 MLB All-Star Game played between the American League and National League will start at 8 p.m. ET, Tuesday, July 16 in Arlington, Texas. Lineups are now posted.
