OIX, DIACC Partner on Cross-border Digital ID

The Open Identity Exchange (OIX), a global non-profit organization, has announced a partnership with the Digital ID Authentication Council of Canada (DIACC) to advance the interoperability of digital identity systems. The collaboration seeks to harmonize identity management and verification standards across different countries, fostering a more secure and user-friendly digital ecosystem worldwide.

OIX focuses on creating a trusted community that supports interoperable identities and provides guidance on identity management. DIACC, a leading entity in Canada, promotes secure digital identification by verifying services through the Pan-Canadian Trust Framework (PCTF). Together, these organizations aim to bridge policy differences and streamline identity assurance processes across various jurisdictions.

“The benefits of the digital global economy will be vast, but there is still some way to go before everyone can confidently access them,” said Nick Mothershaw, Chief Identity Strategist at OIX. “Our collaboration with DIACC will play a critical role. The fantastic progress DIACC has already made across Canada is an exemplar for global interoperability and will provide much needed insight, tools and guidance to pave a much clearer way forward globally.”

The partnership will specifically target methods for recognizing and validating digital credentials and identity verification systems within diverse trust frameworks. By addressing these standards and identifying potential gaps, OIX and DIACC plan to create a more unified approach to digital identity.

This effort will include sharing best practices, developing intellectual capital, and promoting knowledge exchange between the two organizations.

“We’re thrilled to collaborate with the Open Identity Exchange,” said Joni Brennan, DIACC President. “The formalization of our liaison demonstrates progress in supporting our shared values to advance secure, user-centric digital identity solutions globally.”
