WILLISTON, Fla. (WCJB) – One former Levy County public school that closed in 2021 will continue to grow — but in a slightly different sense.
Williston City Council members approved a request from the medical marijuana company “Fluent” to use the vacant school into a commercial marijuana grow house.
Medical marijuana will be grown inside the former school. Some residents TV20 spoke to were against the project, but so was the city council at first. Mayor of Williston Charles Goodman said he was not thrilled when he first heard about the project, either.
“We were against it,” Goodman said. “I feel I can speak for the council. But as we educated ourselves, they presented three different times, we changed our minds.”
Officials with the city council said when the marijuana warehouse is up and running, they will have additional security to ensure no one breaks in.
