As the Digital Equity Competitive Grant Program gets set to provide over one billion in digital equity projects, the West Virginia Office of Broadband is preparing to welcome applicants into the digital era.

The program will provide over $1.25 billion in funding in awards ranging from $5 to $10 million to eligible applicants to provide them with electronic devices, as well as training on their use, according to a new release from the West Virginia Development Office. The goal is to bring underserved communities the training and equipment to bring them into the modern era of internet access.

Specific groups eligible for the grants include political subdivisions, nonprofits, educational agencies, workforce development organizations and Indian Tribal entities, among others.

Those interested in applying for the grant must have an active System for Award Management, or SAM.gov account, and a Unique Entity Identifier to access the NTIA Grant Portal.
