The first season of “Arcane,” the Emmy Award-winning series from Riot Games, will be soon be coming to home entertainment platforms, both digital and physical.

Season 1 of the animated series will be issued in a limited-run Collector’s Edition, 4K Ultra HD and standard Blu-ray Disc Steelbook, a standard Blu-ray, and as a digital download, for purchase only.

The digital release, for North America, comes first, on Sept. 24. The UHD and Blu-ray Steelbooks, along with the standard Blu-ray Disc, will be released Oct. 8, followed by the limited-run Collector’s Edition on Oct. 22.

The “Arcane” release is orchestrated by GKIDS in partnership with Anime Ltd., Plaion Pictures, Plain Archive, Shout! Studios, and Sugoi.

Season 1 of “Arcane” will be released as a digital download in Europe, South Korea, and Australia/New Zealand by Anime Ltd. and Plaion Pictures, Plain Archive, and Sugoi, respectively. It will be released on those same platforms in Latin America by Shout! Studios, which also will handle physical product distribution for North America alongside GKIDS. 

The limited-run Collector’s Edition is presented in a rigid clamshell box featuring original artwork, and contains all nine episodes presented in 4K resolution and mastered in Dolby Vision HDR. The edition also contains all episodes on standard Blu-Ray. In addition to the full series, the set includes new merchandise items exclusive to the Collector’s Edition — including a double-sided poster featuring artwork from Piltover’s “Progress Day” with one side defaced by Jinx, six art cards with Powder’s illustrations, Caitlyn Kiramann’s map of Piltover, and an expansive dice set containing a Hexcore-inspired d20 die, seven liquid core resin dice inspired by Hex crystals, a protective pouch and decorative dice box. 

Only 6,500 copies of the Collector’s Edition are set for release and will be available exclusively through the GKIDS and Riot Games’ stores. 

The 4K UHD Steelbook features a Jinx-themed outer package, and contains the full nine-episode series presented across three 4K UHD discs, and an additional Blu-ray Disc containing over three hours of bonus features. The standard Blu-ray Steelbook edition is presented in a Vi-themed outer package, and contains the same nine-episode series and the same accompanying bonus features across three discs. The standard Blu-ray Disc presents the series and bonus features across three Blu-rays. 

Earlier this month, at the Annecy International Film Festival, GKIDS announced it had acquired worldwide (excluding China) videogram and digital transactional rights to the first season of the internationally acclaimed series.

“Arcane” is set in the universe of the popular video game League of Legends, made by Riot Games and Fortiche Productions for Netflix. The series is co-created by Christian Linke and Alex Yee, and follows the origins of iconic League champions Vi and Jinx as they become caught in the power struggle between the utopian city of Piltover and the oppressed underground city of Zaun. 

The series debuted in November 2021 to rave reviews, garnering widespread praise for its animation, characters, music, and overall production quality. It has been praised by critics as one of the best video game adaptations ever created. The series went on to win four primetime Emmy Awards, including Outstanding Animated Program, as well as nine Annie Awards, including Best Mature Animated Television Broadcast Production.
